    • Originally I thought the Newberrys were from Connecticut, but I found information that indicates that a James Newberry who was born in England died in Marshfield. His son James was born in England (I'm not sure of this, could be Maine) in 1740 (I did find the Plymouth County marriage record for this James). So this leads me to believe that John may have also been born in England. This sort of corresponds to the statements made that he was "raised in Marshfield" - no indication of being born there. Also perhaps he is an unrecorded child of William of Scarborough, whose children were born around this James birth date.
