There is a John Morrill that removed to Sebec, Maine in 1803. Could it be this John.? He had a son Joseph with him, and this John's son Moses did end up in Sebec. Historical collections of Piscataquis County, Maine states that James Lyford (Deborah Lyford, b. 3 May 1769), Silas Harriman(b. 21 Oct 1778, d. 10 Dec 1876, Sebec) (Elizabeth Lyford, b. 16 Mar 1779, d. 26 Nov 1847, Sebec), John Morrill (looks to be b. 28 Mar 1785, d. 27 Feb 1853, Sebec) (Liberty Lyford, b. 6 Jul 1783) and Bylie Lyford (Lois Lyford, b. 10 Jun 1781) all married sisters whose maiden name was Lyford (daughters of Thomas and Ann (James) Lyford). One website on Ancestry says John Morrill was from Gilmanton, New Hampshire. | Morrill, John (I35111)

There is a puzzle with Asa's first son, Asa LeBreche Rock though. There is the birth record in Plainfield which does not imply that it was a twin birth-however according to Jack who remembers his aunts & uncles this man was called William Rock. If you check the SSDI there is a William Rock born on the same day and died in Derry NH which is where Jack stated he died. William left CT and lived in Bristol NH for a time and then moved down to Derry. My husband believes he remembers visiting him (Uncle Bill) when they would go to the beach in NH. He didn't remember that it was his great uncle, just a really good guy that was pretty poor. I haven't gotten to check with the Catholic Church in Derry but they should have a record of his death.

There is an Amos Staples in Hartford in 1853 along with George M., both blacksmiths. There is also a Joseph located around the corner who was a filesmith. I'm wondering if this is Amos, son of Able and Cynthia, and 2 of his sons (this scenario is now doubtful. It appears that Amos, son of Abel and Cynthia removed to Vermont with some of his brothers [9 Jan 2018]). Or is this Amos and 2 of his brothers? It seems awful coincidental that there are 2 Amos' who are blacksmiths as well as George M.s as sons/brothers.
There is no Amos at this address in 1852 or 1854. Joseph lived nearby until 1854. Joseph was apparently born in England so probably no relation. | Staples, George Martin (I30986)
