eginning with my latest upload, I’m creating new types of individuals – events, documents, organizations and transportation. This has allowed me to share information across people from the standpoint of those types. Many times things occur that then go on to affect people’s lives – weather, war, famine, etc.

did a complete refresh of the database this morning. I’ve added more information, documents and people, plus corrected some of the ancestry that has now been proven false. I’m also trying something a little different – some documents, events and transportation items are now being treated as individuals within the database. This is mainly due to the idea that not all facts originate at the person level, there are many things that are initiated from some other process that now people get drawn into. But for now, I’ll be cleaning up for a while. The import didn’t go as well as I thought it would – a lot of funky characters and duplicated information.

decided to do a complete refresh of the database this morning. The latest version of TNG (my website software) is now doing a better (almost perfect?) job of importing a GEDCOM so I don’t have to divide up my data in order to get a successful import. I’m sure there will be some cleanup, but it’ll be less taxing.

‘ve done a complete refresh of the database as of today, including more extended family information. The database became corrupted through the import of additional data – sources were overlaid, family records replaced, etc.. Not knowing what was broken, I felt it better to reload, a time consuming chore.

imported some new additions the other day, new data I had found, but somehow, I screwed up the sequencing of the database I had. It was beyond repair, so I’ve had to re-import the entire database. More than likely, some of the original links are going to be broken.

‘ve added a “This Day in History” section below based upon timeline events that have been entered into the database and are pertinent to the lives of our ancestors. I’ve added source references – although not completely yet – to these events as well as tagged them so that events can be displayed elsewhere – especially relative to the geographic history pages I have created here.

am now managing much of the text here with WORDPRESS. It just makes it easier to update.
I’ve written the code to access the WordPress logs directly because I didn’t like the way WordPress took over my website once I turned on Permalinks. It changed the way errors were logged(not) and the template I created needed to be very plain vanilla in order to display properly. Permalinks are off and the code works fine now.

ello and welcome to the new look for our site. Gone are most of the clumsy, difficult to maintain HTML pages in favor of a sleeker, easier to maintain, database structure. It will be an ongoing process for a while in order to utilize as many of the features and functions available through this new interface, so please, bear with us!
