Jonathan Hutchings   was born about 1684 in
Kittery, York Co.,
Province of Maine, Massachusetts.  He was taken by Indians in May 1698. He moved from
Portsmouth, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire in
1737 to Bald Head Cliff, York, York Co.,
Province of Maine, Massachusetts. He died after 1743 in
York, York Co.,
Province of Maine, Massachusetts. He was a carpenter and a farmer. Jonathan was captured by the Indians and taken to Canada on
May 9, 1698, returned to Kittery in 1705. Jonathan inherited his father's garrison
house nearby with the barns and out houses and thirty acres of land bordering
on Spruce Creek, Kittery. On Jan. 17, 1714, he sold this property to his brother
Benjamin. The deed was witnessed by Samuel Hutchings and William Pepperell. He
was living in Kittery in 1734, moved to Bald Head Cliff, York in 1737. Jonathan
was the first Hutchings to move to York. He married Judith Weeks in 1720
in Portsmouth, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire.  
She was his second wife.
